JERRY DODGION (b. 1932). A much sought after composer/arranger, and "first-call" alto saxophonist, Jerry Dodgion has played, recorded and toured with a panoply of jazz luminaries, including Count Basie, Benny Carter, Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Charlie Mingus, Gerry Mulligan, Frank Sinatra, Clark Terry, McCoy Tyner, Sarah Vaughn and many, many others. He was a founding member of the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra and was with the band for 12 years. Jerry is currently a member of the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band and he continues to write and arrange for both large and small ensembles.
